The Allies were determined to inflict total defeat on their enemies, at any cost. But following Victory the big three Britain, American and Russia fought each other for supremacy. The shape of the world we live in today is the legacy of events that took place in 1945. This episode: After the end of the war millions of people were forced to move home and country, as borders were redrawn and new occupying governments installed. The war had made the Americans the richest nation in the world and they were ready to impose their views around the globe. Britain was victorious but bankrupt.
