Disasters Of The Century - Noronic Fire (2004)

On September 17, 1949, the largest vessel on the Great Lakes, the tour ship Noronic, ties up at Toronto Harbour. It is old, with its interior made mostly of painted wood and its fire prevention equipment almost non-existent. When it catches fire in the early morning, hundreds are caught in their beds. The ill-prepared crew does its best to save the passengers, but 118 perish. Regulations enforcing sprinkler systems and fire training are soon put into place.
